چکیده

Novel simple kinetic spectrophotometric method for the determination of tiopronin [N-(2mercaptopropionyl)-glycine, MPG] in pharmaceutical formulation has been developed and validated. The proposed method is based on the coupled redox-complexation reaction whose first step is reduction of Fe by MPG, while second one includes the complexation of Fe, resulted from preceding redox reaction, with 2,4,6-trypyridyl-s-triazine (TPTZ). The stable Fe(TPTZ)2 complex exhibits an absorption maximum at  = 593 nm. The initial rate and fixed time (at 3 min) methods were utilized for constructing the calibration graphs. The graphs were linear in concentration ranges from 1.0  10 to 1.0  10 mol L for both methods with limits of detection 1.3  10 mol L and 7.5  10 mol L for the initial rate and fixed time method, respectively. The proposed methods were successfully applied for the determination of MPG in its commercial pharmaceutical formulation.

Spectrophotometric Determination of N-Acetyl-L-Cysteine and N-(2-Mercaptopropionyl)-Glycine in Pharmaceutical Preparations

A simple spectrophotometric method for the determination of N-acetyl-L-cysteine (NAC) and N-(2-mercaptopropionyl)glycine (MPG) in pharmaceutical preparations was developed, validated, and used. The proposed equilibrium method is based on a coupled two-step redox and complexation reaction. In the first step, Fe(III) is reduced to Fe(II) by NAC or MPG. Subsequently, Fe(II) is complexed with 2,4,6...

Spectrophotometric determination of tiopronin using its catalytic reaction between sodium 1,2-naphthoquinone-4-sulfonate and hydroxyl ion.

A novel and simple spectrophotometric method for the determination of tiopronin with sodium 1,2-naphthoquinone-4-sulfonate (NQS) is established in this paper. The detailed mechanism is proposed and discussed. It is based on the fact that tiopronin can catalyze the reaction between sodium 1,2-naphthoquinone-4-sulfonate and hydroxyl ion to form 2-hydroxy-1,4-naphthoquinone in a buffer solution of...

Noncovalent Interactions of Tiopronin-Protected Gold Nanoparticles with DNA: Two Methods to Quantify Free Energy of Binding

The binding of gold nanoparticles capped with N-(2-mercaptopropionyl)glycine (Au@tiopronin) with double-stranded DNA has been investigated and quantified in terms of free energies by using two different approaches. The first approach follows the DNA conformational changes induced by gold nanoparticles using the CD technique. The second methodology consists in the use of pyrene-1-carboxaldehyde ...
